hello there! i'm living in UK 2 years now so i have to speak english all the time... at work, uni and live! i think the best way to learn english is talking with someone in the same language:) so that's good idea that u're trying learn like that:) i'm gonna help u if u wanna:) kisess xxx

UK. The best way to learn english is to live in any english speaking country, you will learn english and you wont even notice it because you will use it all the time. Begining will be hard but after couple of months it will be piece of cake

ive got a problem because my son wont speak any polish. he just started to learn speaking and he wont say anythin in polish except "mama" :(

and how old is ur son?

Like everything when you learn it many times, example for four month. When you live at that country you have to speak this language. And when English speaking people speak in English they don't thing about how many mistakes they are made in the text, but they are thing about understanding the text.

he has 18 months. he's just learnig and im scared that he wont speak any polish, because if hes got a choice he's choosing english version.

echja128 please dont feel ofended or something like this. Im just pointing out same mistake i did. Thing - to rzecz, rozumiem, ze mialas na mysli think. To what you said you would be supprised how many mistakes they make, or those bloddy short words with missing letters. It is a new fashion in england (or new in my city)

hes calling his dad "daddy". so ok, daddy is daddy and mummy is mama. thats fine. but everything else. like "a ball" i was trying to convince him its "pilka" but he wouldnt even repeat. so now its a little bit too late and i dont want to make him confused so it stayed "a ball". hes name is Oliver Andrzej. Hes got his 2nd name after my father.

im speaking to him in polish but i was thinking that maybe he picks english because its easier to pronounce? i'm the only one who speaks to him in polish.

So i guess that ur husband havent got polish nationality. Maybe try talking to him only in poish and let ur husband talk to him in english? Dont worry there are polish schools, they are shitty i went there once and i wont come back, but they teach in polish and in english

Zdesperowana - so you live in England I guess? So you are good in English...Im shy because I think, I made a lot mistakes :( Before you left Poland do you learn English? How long you are in England? Learn your son Polish languages he will be more intelligence in the future, you can read about it on internet or in books.

im not going to send my boy to a polish school, first of all there arent any in my area, second of all i want him to go to a good school. and yes, im talking to him only in polish, even if he spends most of the time with me he doesnt pick any. probably because its harder to learn so hes choosing the easier version at the moment. miss -> yeah, say whats happening?

i'm livin in wales for 6 years now. so yes, in united kingdom. havent got much contact with polish people, mainly with british, at home and at work, ive got some polish friends i see sometimes and there is kafeteria as well for my polish "skills". dont know why i started to write over here on this topic, maybe because you are so nice people and its hard to find any over here haha. before i came to the uk i was learning english at school, but i had a lot of practice over here, i was always working with people so it was just a matter of time for me to get fluent. nobody cares over here if you are doing mistakes in grammar or not, as long as people can understand you they dont care :).

Ive got bad feelings about this topic... Brb i have to go to the dark side for biscuits. Zdesperowana dont worry if you plan to stay where you are then what is the problem? Ive got mate who's grandfather is polish but he only speak in english

Btw why u are so desperate?

i want my son to be able to speak to my parents as well, and i would be very sorry if he wont speak polish. I would also feel like loosing my "polishness" if you know what i mean :)

im not desperate, its just a nickname i chose to wind people over here up :P
